About Us

How it Started

Oriental House was founded in 1994 by U Aye Tun, driven by a personal desire for self-accomplishment and to build something meaningful in Myanmar’s food scene. At the time, dim sum wasn’t widely available, especially not in a way that was accessible to people from all walks of life. He saw an opportunity to introduce something different: authentic Chinese cuisine that was both high in quality and affordable to the everyday diner.

The restaurant is grounded in family traditions, with many dishes based on recipes passed down from grandmothers. These recipes bring a sense of nostalgia and warmth to the menu, reflecting not only culinary heritage but also moments of togetherness.
